Sistermadly - Rolling Stone Album review - Naked

Sydney based duo Melanie Forbes and Nicci Heffernan, aka sistermadly, have polished their country harmonies and pop sensibilities to a new glow on their latest effort, Naked. Reminiscent of Crowded House in places, Forbes and Heffernan intertwine their respectively sweet and raw voices to create a warm and bluesy set. Not shy about opening up, Naked delivers on the promise of the title, offering honest and emotive lyrics layered over sometimes mournful, sometimes uplifting pop melodies. "Strange" evokes Sarah Blasko, "Spiders" is a tightly written ballad replete with warm strings and drifting keyboard melodies, while "Side Of The Road" calls to mind Jane's Addiction.

At its gentle heart though, Naked is about Forbes and Heffernan's voices, and it's there that sistermadly shine.

PEACE OF MIND makes its debut as a bullet straight in @ #9 in the National Country Airplay chart in Australia this week whilst also making its presence felt as the #4 most added AC single in the country!

July 18th, 2008

Riding on the back of their sell out album launch in Sydney Sistermadly’s new radio single PEACE OF MIND is picking up extensive support from major regional radio right across the country debuting @ #15 most added in Australia this week.

PEACE OF MIND is an exquisitely relaxing pop/folk number that showcases Forbes and Heffernan’s vocal harmonies, with the two contrasting yet blending their varied styles. If ever there was a song for AC, this is it while it still has plenty of appeal for CHR.

Stay tuned for more radio updates as they come to hand.
